Context

The growing demand for energy in India requires a transition to renewable solar energy. The Mahindra solar project addresses this need by increasing the production of clean solar energy in India and generating certified carbon credits.

India has set ambitious emission reduction targets, and photovoltaic power plants are a key tool for achieving them. The Renewable Solar Power Project by Mahindra Renewables Private Ltd aligns with regional goals, using cutting-edge technologies to maximize energy efficiency. The solar panels employed ensure high performance even under extreme weather conditions. The clean energy produced reduces reliance on fossil fuels and helps cut CO₂e emissions. Revenue is generated through the sale of carbon credits, making the project sustainable in the long term.

Stakeholders and local partners

Who are the key stakeholders?

The solar project was developed following consultations with all relevant stakeholders. This included the local population, who were informed and actively involved throughout the various project stages. As a result, the project has created several long-term employment opportunities and improved local living conditions both by providing economic benefits and by improving local air quality. The solar project generates carbon credits certified by Verra.
